people protect the things they love

A few weeks while at my family's shore house I stumbled upon an ad for the Marine Mammal Stranding Center located in Brigantine, NJ. It may be a small facility but it has enough heart to fill acres of land. Upon entering the facility I got to view the 1,000 gallon outdoor tank which is really wonderful and it even had sea horses in it!. After dreamily watching the inhabitants of the tank I went into the gift shop. Right away I was greeted by a lovely staffer who asked if I would like to see the current rescues. Of course I did!. A small group of us went through to the cordoned off area and the very knowledgeable staffer told us about the seal who had been bitten by a tiger shark and the other babies recuperating there. These people have so much heart.
All funding for this facility comes from fund raising events and donations. The work the MMSC does is priceless and to date they have responded to 3900 strandings of whales, dolphins, seals and sea turtles.
If you are ever near the area I urge you to visit, get a guided tour and then empty your wallets!.
